As a student, in 2009, she created her Feminist Frequency Website. As of 2009, this ambitious young lady was harassed on the internet for her website series on gender in videogames. The attack wasn't enough to deter her. It actually increased her importance as a feminist and media critique. The award-winning journalist has received numerous accolades to recognize her prominent contributions to the field of feminism. Anita Sarkeesian won awards for her efforts as a critique of media and also founded Feminist Frequency. The nonprofit explores the portrayals of women in contemporary pop culture.
