Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of the football scholarship of his parents and a commitment in the local community. First family, he's the youngest of the nine children born to Lucious Selmon and Jessie. They grew up on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. In football, he played with three of his brothers from Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. For the three seasons that Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. Third scholarship he was named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon obtained his master's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering during his college years. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Also, he began an entrepreneurial career. He was an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of 10 young stars throughout the United States. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He captained his college team in 1975. In 1993, Roy was a part of the University of South Florida's athletic department as associate director. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame named him as a member in the year 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
